The business

In his business, the phone call is the sale.

Javier Rivera has run Javi’s Dumpster Services out of Orlando since 2018. He delivers roll-off dumpsters to 29 cities across Central Florida.

Somebody needs a dumpster. They search, they call, he books it. So his marketing has one job: make the phone ring.

He came to us from another agency. Before taking anything over, we reviewed what he was paying for. Here’s what we found.

Javi’s Dumpster Services, Orlando. (407) 860-8640 is the number on the trucks.

What we found · The website

163 pages. 161 of them got zero visits.

18 organic visits a month, down 85%. That’s on an established domain with 699 referring domains. A site with that many other sites linking to it isn’t starting from zero.

Websites work. For a business like Javi’s, the website is where a search turns into a call. This one wasn’t built to do that.

What we found · The ads

$67,557 in 12 months. 62 campaigns.

The Google Ads account spent $67,557 over the trailing 12 months, across 62 campaigns. 55 of them were newly launched in that time. That’s about one new campaign a week.

Spend also went to display banner ads and to a campaign for YouTube subscribers. When the phone call is the sale, every dollar should be going after a call.

Who owned what

He was renting his own marketing.

The previous agency kept the old domain, javisdumpsterrental.com. The old ads sent people to quote pages hosted on that domain.

Those pages are gone now. In October 2026, Google rejected 299 old ads that still pointed at them.

His name was on the domain. His money paid for the ads. But the address and the pages his customers landed on weren’t his. He was paying for marketing he couldn’t take with him.

For owners

Five things to check with your agency this week.

  1. 01

    Do you own your domain?

Your domain is your address online. If it’s registered to your agency, the site and everything built on that address stays with them when you leave.

  2. 02

Do you own your phone numbers?

If the numbers on your ads and your site belong to the agency, they decide where those calls ring. Customers who saved the number are calling a line you don’t control.

  3. 03

Do you own your landing pages?

Ads send people to pages. If those pages live on someone else’s domain or software, they go away when the contract does, and every ad pointing at them stops working. That’s how 299 ads got rejected here.

  4. 04

Do you own your Google Ads account?

You should be the owner, with your agency added as a user. If the agency owns the account, your history stays with them.

  5. 05

Do you own your analytics and tag manager?

They hold the record of what’s worked. If you’re not an admin on your own accounts, you can’t see your own numbers, and you can’t take them with you.

A no on any of these doesn’t mean your agency is doing something wrong. It means you can’t leave with what you paid for. Ask this week.
