Beyond Breaking Even — book cover

By Justin Hubbard

Beyond Breaking Even.

The Service Business Owner's Playbook for Real Profit.

Most service businesses don't fail, they just never actually become businesses. They stay jobs — jobs the owner created for themselves, can't step away from, and can't sell. Jobs that pay okay when things are good and threaten everything when they're not. You did $400,000 last year and took home a fraction of it. That's not a revenue problem. That's a business problem. And it's about to get more complicated.

By Justin Hubbard — Founder of Grizzly Junk Pros. 16,000+ customers, 6,000+ jobs/year.

A new competitor is entering your market right now. They've never gotten their hands dirty — but they know Google Ads, they understand margins, and they're already running AI tools you haven't heard of. They're not coming to compete with you. They're coming to replace you.

Beyond Breaking Evenis the playbook for making sure that doesn't happen. Job-level profitability. Pricing that protects your margins. A team that can run without you. Recurring commercial revenue that doesn't have to be re-earned every month. And the AI tools and market positioning that keep you ahead of whoever shows up next.

Stop breaking even. Start building.

Foreword

By Tony Nava.

Founder, Texas Junkers — Houston, TX. U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. Seven-figure operator.

Starting a business isn't easy. Nobody tells you how lonely it can feel when you're out there trying to figure it all out on your own. You make decisions you second-guess for months. You question yourself more than anyone else ever could. And when you need help, there's usually nobody to ask. Most of us just wing it and hope we don't crash too hard.

That's where a lot of first-time entrepreneurs get stuck. We turn to YouTube or some online expert hoping for real answers and all we find are vague promises that don't translate to anything useful. I fell into that same trap. I made mistakes, wasted money, and learned the hard way.

Then I met Justin. He didn't come at me trying to sell something or convince me how much better he was than everyone else. He just asked for a chance to help me grow. That right there told me everything I needed to know about him.

Working with Justin completely changed how I look at business. He helped us scale our Google Ads — but that was just the start. He became a mentor, a coach, and someone who actually gives a damn. He helped me grow not just the company but my mindset. We went from low six figures to over a million dollars in a single year.

But the money isn't the main thing. It's the confidence. Knowing that I built something real — something that works — because of what I learned from him.

Justin doesn't just talk business. He lives it. What he shares in this book isn't theory. It's tested. It's real. He cares about the people he helps, and in this industry, that's rare.

If you're reading this, understand something — this life isn't for people looking for shortcuts. It's for the ones willing to put in the work, take risks, and build something that lasts. That's what this book teaches.

Come on. Let's get it.

What operators are saying.

Real owners. Real businesses. Real numbers attached. Verbatim from the back of the book.

I’ve spent time and had enough real conversations with Justin to know this isn’t theory, it’s how he actually operates. He’s built a business that runs without him, which is something most owners talk about but never pull off, either because they don’t have the guts or the know-how. That doesn’t happen by accident, it’s built on systems, processes, and discipline. What he teaches is the antidote to vague business advice and shows what it really takes to build something that doesn’t rely on you to survive.

Beyond Breaking Even is my story in action. When I met Justin, I had a pickup, a trailer, and four dumpsters. Today I've got a hook-lift truck, thirty dumpsters, and a second truck on the way. His strategies helped me more than double my business and gave me the clarity to run it with confidence.

In an industry flooded with get-rich-quick schemes and revenue braggarts, Justin cuts through the noise with honesty and serious expertise. I consider Justin to be the foremost expert in the dumpster rental industry. He's been in the game longer than almost anybody, adapted to change, implemented new technology, and — most importantly — structured his business so it can operate entirely without him. Even if that's not your goal, it's important to build a business that can run without you. Justin has mastered this, and I can speak from experience when I say it's much easier said than done.

Bailey Stewart

Owner, Blue Bin Dumpster

Justin has more wisdom in the service industry than most people who've been in the game longer than him. I've been in the hauling and waste industry for over ten years, most of it at a high level — and I've learned a lot from his unique, common-sense approach to business. This book is a tangible roadmap for fine-tuning existing operations or laying the right foundation for new ventures.

About the author

Justin Hubbard.

Justin Hubbard built Grizzly Junk Pros from zero to over $2M in annual revenue while living in Stamford, Connecticut. He no longer operates the business day-to-day. Today Grizzly runs from two HQs — Stamford and West Haven — executed by a team of pros following systems Justin spent years building and refining.

He currently lives in Tampa, Florida, where he writes, teaches, and runs Adimize, helping other service business owners do the same.

The systems in Beyond Breaking Evenaren’t theory. They were built and tested inside a real service business under real pressure, with real consequences — managing payroll, navigating slow seasons, adjusting demand in real markets, watching what actually drives booked work.

He still considers himself an operator first.
